The Cultural Center was built in Marquez’s honor by the Mexican government, because has lived in Mexico City for many years, and designed by , Colombia’s best-known architect. Salmona’s buildings, which include the Torres del Parque behind the Bullfighting Stadium, often incorporate many curves.
The cultural includes a bookstore with 90,000 volumes,a restaurant, bank, travel agency and conference centers and stages many cultural events. Strangely, however, it has no exhibition about Mr. Marquez or his work.
The center is located on the north side of 11th Street, just above 6th Ave.
