Plaza de Lourdes
The Plaza de Lourdes and the Iglesia de Lourdes are the best-known landmark in Bogotá’s Chapinero neighborhood. Chapinero, in north Bogotá, is also known for its nightlife and for being Bogotá’s ‘gay neighborhood.’ (Colombia has some of the most progressive gay rights laws in Latin America.) The Gothic church was built in 1875, and the plaza is often the scene of hamster races, religious events and other activities.
